Train? i took once and i'll never try again. it took me 18 hours from bkk to reach CM.

Alternatively u can take night coach there which is 9 hours journey. u can sleep all the way. btw the some of the coaches are far better than those travelling to M'sia and not forgetting the pretty coach stewardess :D

Can I know when is that you took 18 hours from Krung Thep to Chiang Mai, irony my gf told me, it only takes her 12 hrs to travel by train from Krung Thep to Chiang Mai. Total of 4 stop before you hit Chiang Mai railway station.

some trains took 12 hours and some took 14 hours according to schedule but we all know how the thai works (they take their own sweet time 55)

http://www.railway.co.th/English/Time_HTML.asp

I took the train @ end of 2008  and it was very slow. I remembered boarding the train around 8pm and reach CM close to 4pm the following day.
the aircon also was not functioning and we have to endure the noise all the way. i just can't sleep...

if one enjoy talking train from singapore to KL then maybe he can go ahead.

but for me once is enuff :D

Tot of googling but think I consult the forumers first... anyone knows the exact dates for vacation planning? Wanna book early to avoid the travel crunch as Silkair tickets might be sold out closer to the date.
