another tips for watching Thai movie and lakorn..!

When u watch the movie/lakorn, do not watch those with English -sub bro. without the subtitles, it will make u forcus and listen hard and figuring out on the words they use... !

it is rather hard in the begining...but eventually u find out that it gets into your brain in no times. When i was there in BKk last times...I watch their lakorn without English Sub too....!  But it allows me to think and figure out on the words I had already learn and listen to how they phrase it...

Believe me... it really helps!

In thai words conversation..it is inappropriate to use "go see who!"

example of using the word ' HAR"

"Mah har krai"  (Who u come and look for) normally u use to ask that person he/she  come to your house and look for someone.

"Pai Har Mor" (go and see a doctor)

"Har mai jer" (cannot find)

Believe me, this will force your brain to focus and understand. So when time comes for the thai to speak to u in conversation. U have no problem.

When we see lakorn....whether there is sub or no sub, believe me, u will still understand the show. Only problem is that in the begining u find hard to catch what they actually talking about..that's all!

With regards to the words "dtua eng" & Teerak, would like to share some thoughts.

In BKK, one misleading means of endearment used by teenagers who are BF & GF is dtua eng & khao.

As explained in the thread, dtua eng literally means - me, myself or I,
Khao means - he or she, no gender difference.

With that in mind, the real confusion starts, take the following phrases below as an example:

GF to BF - Dtua eng ja, kit teng khao mai ja.  Dtua eng here means BF.
BF to GF - khao kit tend dtua eng ja, would be BF's reply that BF misses GF, dtua eng here means GF.

There is a role reversal here, Dtua eng is deliberately used in replacement of Khao, and Khao is deliberately used in replacement of dtua eng.  I was told that this is the teenagers "cute" way of expressing endearments to their partners. But in context of correct Thai, this is wrong and misleading.

Note that BF & GF can be both dtua eng and Khao, depending on who initiates the endearment or conversation.

This explains why when you watch Thai teeny lovey movies, you would come across the phrase of Dtua eng and khao intead of Teerak.
