don't go to Tawandaeng Singapore at East Coast Parkway.
i had the worst experience there on valentine's day.
i was having dinner with a friend... yes a thai girl... yes she is from the flesh trade... but that is all i shall reveal in here cos it's got no relevance.
however, in Anything and Everything, this restaurant has relevance.

this is the WORST restaurant ever.

here's how the night went.

firstly a diversion. we wanted to go to Sentosa.
took a cab to Vivocity hoping to run in and out on the monorail. bad move. the queue was longer than the "zua"/snake you get when you have herpes zoster or in Thai it's called 'ngoo sa wat'. (ps. May had this for her short while. damn itchy and damn crave for seafood but cannot eat due to bad skin and painful rash... haaahahaha).

so we went back down, hijacked a taxi from the unloading area (hahahah. it was daylight robbery as the taxi queue saw us sneak into the cab... ), then went around the island on an express tour of Sentosa. she had little time so we were limited and couldn't take make stops for photos.

anyway, the sun was setting and so we decided on heading out to Tawandaeng.

ok now, if you are going to Thailand often and you have not been to this chain of restaurants, you are really missing out on Thai action. seriously decent or incredibly indecent. you choose your night. best place to make friends. and get sloshed and drunk and behave like an animal or like the pork shoulder you just whacked into your fat german beer belly.
the bands at Tawandaeng in thailand are really out of this world and the atmosphere is superb with huge big arenas. (atlantis no fight.)

so we were hoping for simliar or if not, not too far away from the real Tawandaeng experience in Thailand.
personally i had been to Tawandaeng in Bangkok (german brewery, pleur cheewit and issan... all great memories.... first with decent thai family who's father ended up drunk crazy and i also follow suit while his 15year old daughter contemplated trying out how beer tastes like since daddy is drunk anyway. pleur cheewit because it was a friend's birthday and we wanted to go to somewhere Thai. and tawandaeng issan which is opposite the road from pleur cheewit because the girls we picked up from Soi Cowboy the night before felt better at the wrist twisting arena.)


ok now the horror begins.

walked into the hostess and said i wanted a table for 2.
told to wait 15mins. fine. we didn't reserve and there was the romantic and angpao crowd.
so we waited. no problem.

then the hostess said sorry, only sit-down japanese area left.
ok lor... japanese quite nice what....

then the waiting started.
we were given menus by the hostess.
then we wait.
wait. we asked for waiters to help take our order, but not their section so no chance. then we found the watier incharge of our section. hooray. but he was busy has to serve food will be back... walao, his section in some blind spot somehwere far away... then he came back 20mins later. wtf.
hungry and waiting. nevermind. jai yen yen.

took our order.
then we wait.

30mins later (yes half an hour).
came back to say sorry no slice fish only garupa. nabeh. $24 dish become $55 dish. ok lor. the girl quite nice so i spend.
then 5mins later, come back to say no more sotong. we wanted sotong. but no have.
ok lor. lan lan. so angry liow. almost an hour and still no food.

ok wait... the filipino band sing english song. best that one. but hey, it's thai joint right? hmm...
nevermind. sing quite well. so many songs we hear already. still no food.
the table behind us already give up. they actually walked off without paying. but that's because the waiters not look and all crowd at the kitchen waiting for their orders.

something msut have gone wrong in the kitchen. the system all upsidedown screwed.

ok i in the end order khai jieow. ommelette. surely that is a fast fast steal?
no? no.
it was a 30minute wait. MAD?! ommelette woh!

so damn pissed off.
spent 2hrs at the restaurant most of the time waiting. for 2orders.
even want to pay also have to wait so long.

in thailand, you will be pampered from entrance all the way to the table and even in the toilet they give you a massage.

in singapore? want to be like thailand? confirm cannot.
thailand so much better.
even the GT. you seriously can't get GT-ed in Thailand cos you're a tourist and your stay is temporary.
but if you do, then you become frequent flyer liow lor.

go to thailand to experience thailand.
the thai in singapore is simply not the real thing.
the lies are all imported.
the lies there are left there. too far away for you to worry.

and if you are looking for love, that's another restaurant altogether.
