History of Thai Discos
« on: January 17, 2015, 03:59:56 AM »
Hi Seniors,

I am compiling information on the beginnings of TD, which go beyond my time.

Any idea who or how the hang flower system started? It started at TD1 right? What year? Anyone knows who started this system?

If I recall the first proper Thai Joint would be TD1 --- set up since 1999... about 15 years ago

I started going to TDs about 12 years ago, that time I only know of TD1 and Dagthai, which is the present diva. the flowers were made of glossy paper and joined together in rings. Each flower is $2 and you are supposed to hang them yourself.

some people who are shy would ask the waiters to help them hang and this slowly caught on.

the hang flower system was already here when I started going. no idea how it started though.

@2015

I think Bro Octo is right on the first TD joint. My memory isn't very good now, clouded by years of drinking and staring at naked women.  ;D I only started cheonging TD around 2000/2001(?) and TD1 was likely the only TD around. Then Thai Karaoke was in operation too but can't remember seeing flowers. There used to be a narrow corridor linking TD1 and Thai Karaoke which was accessible through a door near the present stage of the Thai Karaoke to the present TD1 smoking room. The Thai karaoke is owned by Sophia and heard she later took over TD1 but not sure if this is still the case. Perhaps, Bro 2015 may like to visit Thai Karaoke to ask Sophia, the grand dame herself.  :)

After TD1, J-Dee TD at GM level 1 and Siam Disco came into operation. The flower system did not take off until a few years later. Don't know the exact year though. Around 2013/2014, TD1 probably still had not implemented the flower system. I didn't notice the flowers then when I was still cheonging TD1 hardcore but I could be wrong cos too long ago liao. After that, I slowly disappeared from the scene and the next TDs I heard and went to were Icon at CBD and Nana near Merchant Court. So a big gap exists between those few years.

Perhaps other seniors can shed some light.  :)

Then what happens in the original TD? Can we say that TD1 started for Thais and hardcore local siamkia then?

Are there coyotes then? When did coyotes come in?

I heard the coyotes are prostitutes?
