Before you all pass your judgement and comments about Doll House, I think we must first bear in mind that this outlet was not initially planned as a long term replacement for Icon, but more of a rushed solution or race against time to provide a place for their current setup to exist. Their end game all along was to open a big China disco above Doll House ... but as bro Deuter pointed out, things did not go according to plan. So I guess to make do with a premise near their intended target, despite it having the wrong size and layout for a Thai pub, turned out to be their next best alternative instead of having to be out of business for the near future.
This is just my opinion and we all know what Icon are capable of, so instead of all the negativity, we should all be relieved instead that we still have a place to go to see our favourite singers and PRs. Its just a pity that Club Zinc is not around anymore, as I feel that it would have been a much better solution than the Doll House ...
Sounds like their big plan is to plot the downfall of "Insomnia" and take over their premises.
but... the closure of Yess Leisure is not without a notice period. So if any plans goes wrong, can only blame the "Planners" and "Idealist".
I reckon the operational cost here at CHIJMES is equal (or similar) to that of previous venue,
Hence, cut away the band and put more tables seems to be a financially correct move.
bottomline is.. if this arrangement is a temporary solution to keep the "Icon" flag waving and let their singer have a platform to "Show Face".
i think a small place can be made into a cozy place, with elements in it. (Try no smoking in a low ceiling place might help)
